Ways to work with M-Plus
Every organization’s situation is different, but most of what I’m asked for takes one of three shapes. Prices start where they’re listed and are adjusted based on final scope — the details below should help you know about where certain services might land. I use AI in my own processes, which is part of why these numbers work. But it helps compress production time, not thinking time or understanding your specific context.
If what you need doesn’t fit neatly into one of these, say so on the call. A lot of my work starts that way.
Messaging Foundation
Starting at $1,500
Start here if: every person on your team describes the organization a little differently, and you’ve started to notice.
What’s included
• Discovery session
• Review of your existing materials
• Audience and value proposition refinement
• Three to four core messaging pillars
• Boilerplate and elevator description
• Key proof points
• One revision round
• Final messaging framework
What you end up with: one document that settles the argument about how you describe yourselves.
On scope: this is a defined engagement with a clear finish line. If you need stakeholder interviews, competitive research, executive-level messaging, or full website language, you’re into a broader project — typically $3,000 to $5,000 and up. I’ll tell you which one you’re in before we start, not after.
Media Visibility Sprint
Starting at $3,500 · 4–8 weeks
Start here if: you’ve done or are about to do something worth highlighting and you want the media or your target audience(s) to notice.
What’s included
• Media-readiness assessment
• Story and narrative development
• Target media list built for your specific outlets, not bought
• Two to three story angles
• Pitch development
• Targeted journalist outreach
• Spokesperson and executive preparation
• Follow-up — which is where most coverage is actually won
• End-of-sprint results and recommendations
What you end up with: a developed story, a working media list, a prepared spokesperson, and outreach to journalists who cover your space.
Worth saying plainly: I don’t guarantee placements, and I’d be careful with anyone who does. Editors decide what runs. What I can commit to is the work — the story, the targeting, the pitch, and the follow-up that gives it a real chance.
On scope: more extensive pitching or an ongoing thought leadership program typically starts around $5,000.
Also available:
Speechwriting
Bylined articles and thought leadership
Workshop design and facilitation
Social media strategy
Internal communications audits
The first call is thirty minutes and costs nothing. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll say so.
Fractional Communications Director
Starting at $4,500/month · three-month initial commitment
Start here if: you’ve priced out a full-time communications director and the number gave you pause.
What’s included
• Communications strategy
• Executive counsel
• Messaging
• Media strategy
• Thought leadership
• Issues and reputation counsel
• Editorial and content planning
• Coordination with internal staff and vendors
• Regular meetings with your leadership
• Measurement and reporting
What you end up with: a senior person in the room when decisions get made — not a coordinator learning the job on your budget.
On the three-month minimum: communications work compounds, and the first month is mostly learning your organization. Three months is the shortest, honest window for this to be worth what you’re paying.
