About me
I'm Dan Weber. Over 15+ years, I've built messaging frameworks, run media relations, shaped thought leadership programs, written strategic plans, and drafted just about everything an organization sends out — press releases, speeches, op-eds, board memos, talking points, emails, award applications, and social media posts.
Consistent, focused messaging is key. But what experience adds on top of the craft is peripheral vision: knowing what needs to be said today while seeing and preparing for what could become a problem six or more months from now. Most communications failures aren't surprises. They're things somebody saw coming and didn't name or plan for ahead of time.
I spent nearly a decade as a Communications Director on Capitol Hill. I've led communications for a national cancer advocacy organization, working on issues where the wrong word in a press release or social media post lands in front of someone who has just been diagnosed. And I directed communications for a global legal association serving more than 48,000 members across dozens of countries — an audience with almost nothing in common except the profession.
I started M-Plus because many organizations that need this can't justify a full-time senior communications hire and shouldn't have to. A founder-led company doesn't need a communications department. It needs someone who has done this before, for a defined stretch of time, on the specific thing in front of them.
I work with founder-led companies, associations and member organizations, and policy-driven and regulated organizations across political, healthcare, legal, and energy sectors. I use AI in my own workflow where it genuinely speeds things up, and I'm candid with clients about where it doesn't — judgment about what to say and who needs to hear it is still the job.
My family and I travel as often as we can manage, partly because several family members live in Europe. I studied in Munich, and being the one who had to adjust — to the language, the norms, the assumptions underneath a conversation — turned out to be better professional training than I expected. It's most of what I drew on running communications for an association with members in dozens of countries, and it ensures I don’t make assumptions about how a client's target audience may consume information.
I'm based in the Washington, DC area and work with clients wherever they are.
