Senior communications leadership, without the full-time hire.
I'm Dan Weber. For more than 15 years I've led communications on Capitol Hill, in national cancer advocacy, and for a global legal association serving 48,000 members. As a fractional communications consultant, I do that work now for organizations that need a senior hand — at the scale they actually need it.
Who I work with
Founder-led & early-stage companies
Build a clear voice, message, and communications foundation for growth.
Policy-driven & regulated organizations
Navigate high-stakes issues with accurate, audience-focused communication.
I've built, run, and expanded communications functions in all three. While the structures and industries might change, the necessary discipline does not — be accurate, know exactly who you're talking to, and clearly connect how the information is important to them.
Associations, member & nonprofit organizations
Engage members, align stakeholders, and make complex work easier to understand.
The bandwidth problem
Most leaders and teams I work with aren't bad at communications. They're busy — building the business, running programs, managing a board, keeping the whole thing moving. Communications is the work that's always important and never urgent, right up until it's both.
That gap looks different everywhere. Some organizations have no communications function at all. Some have one person covering five jobs. Some produce plenty of material and still can't say what they stand for in a single sentence. The work is almost the same either way: decide what's actually worth saying, say it plainly, and get it in front of the people who matter — reporters, funders, board members, staff, customers, elected officials.
I've done this from inside a Congressional office, a national nonprofit, and a global association. I know what it looks like when it works, and what it costs when it doesn't.
Three examples of the types of engagements available. All of which we can customize to match exactly what you and your organization need.

Testimonials
“It was time to put Ariya more in the public spotlight. We had a clear point of view we wanted to share, but not the platform or bandwidth to make it happen. …Dan was able to quickly grasp the context, the nuances, and the messaging needed to raise Ariya's profile as a thought leader in the sector. This added exposure is helping open doors to conversations with stakeholders necessary to the future of Ariya.”
—Dr. Herta von Stiegel, Founder & CEO, Ariya Capital Group
